Science On Call
Closing a Velocity Round with a story that matched the sophistication of their platform

Key Results
Closed their Velocity Round: a raise designed to accelerate momentum in advance of a full Series A
Unlocked a clear, confident fundraising narrative that finally reflected the sophistication of the platform
Repositioned Science On Call from a restaurant IT help desk to a scalable technology company
Science On Call helps restaurants maximize uptime by automating the IT issues that disrupt revenue. Heading into their “Velocity Round,” designed to provide a momentum boost prior to a full Series A, Co-founders Andy Freivogel and Luisa Castellanos wanted a deck that finally reflected the true sophistication of the platform they’d been building for years.
The company had evolved far beyond a restaurant IT help desk, but that wasn’t always obvious from the outside. The challenge was to present Science On Call as the scalable technology venture it truly is, and finally articulate the story the team had been trying to express for years.
Defining what makes Science On Call valuable (and scalable)
From the first working session, the founders made it clear that the perception needed to shift away from a people-heavy support model and toward a scalable automation solution.
The story needed to focus on how issues are ingested, how the system learns, how automations get smarter, and why that loop compounds over time.
From POS failures and Wi-Fi outages to inventory management challenges; this automation engine takes these instances that would previously debilitate a business and makes them stronger and run more seamlessly.
These restaurants are operating on a razor's edge, where even an hour of service being disrupted by these issues can be financially damaging, so this solution is extremely valuable and needed.
We worked with the co-founders to articulate three core truths that had never been presented cleanly in their deck before:
- Traditional IT support models weren’t designed for the real-time, fragmented nature of restaurant operations
- Science On Call wasn’t solving this with more people, it was scaling through a continually learning automation engine
- Restaurants are only the starting point: the underlying technology unlocks adjacent verticals far larger than the initial market

This became the foundation for how the entire narrative was structured.
Structuring a story that gave investors confidence in the engine
Together, we helped Science On Call:
- Center the automation engine, so investors immediately understood this was a scalable technology business (not a services business)
- Show how the platform improves from every IT issue (“the learning loop”)
- Make the scalability of the model explicit: the future isn’t tied to hiring, it’s tied to the automation engine
The result was a deck that clarified the compounding intelligence of the platform without getting overly technical; direct, digestible, and grounded in how restaurants actually operate.

Showing the venture-scale potential behind the platform
With a clear story and a deck that finally reflected the true power of the platform, Science On Call entered the fundraising market with sharper positioning and greater confidence. Investors could see why the company wasn’t a support shop, but a scalable automation engine designed for the next decade of restaurant operations and beyond
Beyond closing their Velocity Round, the team:
- Reframed themselves as a technology company, not a services company
- Built a narrative foundation now used across fundraising, sales, and product
- Brought clarity to the long-term scalability and defensibility of the platform
Turning clarity into conviction
Andy summed up the transformation best:
<quote2>
By giving the platform’s intelligence center stage, the Velocity Round became more than an interim raise, it became the moment the company’s narrative finally caught up to the sophistication of technology powering it.
“We needed a story that made the technology unmistakable, not something that implied we were scaling through people.”
Andy Freivogel, Co-founder & CEO
“These sessions helped us say what we’d been trying to express for years. The engine, the learning loop, the automation, the story finally reflects what we’ve built.”
